Of a horn form, a flaring oval mouth, an end bends upward forming an arc. Fully covered with floral scrolls, the vessel looks like an elegant peacock, thus, it is also known as the peacock cup. It is fully covered with brown, green, and white glaze.

Tang dynasty was the heyday of the cultural exchange between the East and the West. Resembling the animal horn-shaped cups prevailed in the central and western Asia, this cup was likely to be created by the Chinese artisans upon the influence of foreign culture. Being not only practical, but also ornamental, this vessel witnessed the cultural exchange between the East and the West, displayed the exquisite craftsmanship of the Sancai ceramics of Tang dynasty, and embodied the prosperity and brilliance of the High Tang.
