Featuring a small round mouth, short neck, global body, and two lug handles on the shoulder, the pot was fully covered by engraving patterns, three bands of cord pattern carved in the central part, sawtooth motifs were carved at the rim and ring foot, the shoulder was decorated with cloud pattern. And it was completely gilt.
   
In the metallurgical history of China, the technique of gilding bronze originated in the middle Warring States period, which was exemplified by the gilt bronze belt hook unearthed from the tomb of the Chu state at Changtaiguan in Xinyang of Henan. In the Han dynasty, the gilding technique became increasingly mature, and it has far surpassed the previous generation in terms of craftsmanship, shape and pattern. In the Western Han dynasty, large-scale bronze wares were generally gilded overall, while in the Eastern Han Dynasty, gilding craftsmanship was largely applied on the small items and ornaments.
