Luan bell is the bronze upright bell on the chariot in ancient China, its position is presumably on the Heng (the horizontal drawbar). Apart from a few unique types, Luan bell comprises of three parts: lingqiu (ball-shaped bell), the neck, and the pedestal.

The pre-Qin Luan bells, on the one hand, served as an alarming of the coming of the chariot, on the other hand, a symbol of the rider’s status.
