This jade knife features a straight spine, a thick body with russet speckles, double-blade with a curved cutting edge, a sharp point, and a lanyard hole on the end of the handle, it is not only a partly practical article, but also an exquisite artwork.

A total of 755 jade articles in a great variety were unearthed from Huhao’s tomb, which were functionally classified into ritual vessels, instruments, objects for honor guards, ornaments, and a few daily utensils, serving as the precious physical examples for the study on the jade carving craftsmanship, jade-using rules, the occasions for jade articles, and the jade culture during the Shang dynasty.
