The “Henan, Where China Began” cultural and tourism brand has once again become a focus of the attention of Chinese and foreign friends in April. On April 27, 16 participants of the Seminar on Innovative Development of Cultural Industry of Chinese Museums for Belt and Road Countries visited Henan Museum. All of them came from the countries along the Belt and Road such as Nepal, Nigeria, Costa Rica, Uzbekistan, and Ghana.
Held in Beijing, this seminar is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and guided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. As a supporter, the Henan Museum is committed to building a specialized platform for the cultural industry of Chinese museums and to boosting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in the cultural industry among Belt and Road countries.
They visited permanent exhibitions in the museum such as “A Great Civilization Rises with Capitals Established in the Central Plain,” “Henan in the Ming and Qing Periods,” and “Bronze Art of the Chu State in the Central Plain.” Then, they watched the wonderful show given by the Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra of Henan Museum. In addition, the trainees experienced interactive projects such as archaeological excavations, Chime performances, and digital screens in the Social Education and Experience Hall and learned about the relevant situation of cultural relics protection in the Cultural Relics Protection Research Center.
After the visit, a comprehensive exchange was conducted. The seminar participants showed great interest in prehistoric painted pottery art, bronze civilization in Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, Silk Road culture in Han and Tang Dynasties, and ceramic craftsmanship in Song and Yuan Dynasties that they have been exposed to during the museum tour. They are impressed by the province’s rich archaeological excavation sites, cultural relics reserves as well as cultural significance. They gave a thumbs-up to the music civilization of the Central Plains presented by the performance of the Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra along with the efforts to revitalize relevant cultural relics. Also, they highly commended the province’s work in cultural relics protection, museum education and the development of cultural and creative products.
Through PPT presentations, the trainees shared with others the cultural customs, delicious food, beautiful scenery, museum development, cultural tourism, etc. of their respective countries, and offered a wide range of suggestions on cooperation and exchange. In the meantime, the staff at the Office of Cultural and Creative Products of the Henan Museum introduced the museum’s cultural achievements. As the Chinese saying goes, countries should respect others’ interests while pursuing their own and advance common interests of all. It’s believed that this exchange held in the Henan Museum would make everyone gain a deep understanding of it and lay a solid foundation for cooperation in cultural industry between China’s Central Plains and countries along the Belt and Road.
