Henan Museum Participates in the Third Conference of International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road

On November 1, 2023, the Third Conference of the International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road opened at the National Museum of China. Participants included representatives of 25 member institutions of the alliance from 24 countries, UNESCO representatives, and diplomats from 10 countries including Serbia, Cyprus, Pakistan, Cambodia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, France, and Spain.

During the conference, around the theme of "sharing dialogue on the Silk Road, seeking common development", members of the delegates from both domestic and international institutions shared successful experiences and provided suggestions for the high-quality construction of the "Cultural Silk Road."

Zhang Deshui, deputy director of Henan Museum, delivered a keynote speech titled "Promoting Civilizational Inheritance and Innovation through the High-Quality Development of Museums ". He shared Henan Museum's experience and practices in civilization inheritance and innovation from six aspects: strengthening research and interpretative capabilities, deepening the extraction and transformation of contemporary values, improving exhibition effect, establishing mechanisms for social service collaboration, creating integrated platforms for cultural tourism and creative industries, and promoting contemporary dissemination of Chinese civilization.

Looking towards the future, Henan Museum which relies on the platform of the International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road, will continue to practice principles of connectivity, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, deepen cultural dialogue, promote mutual learning, and better fulfill the cultural mission of museums through high-quality development.
