The brushwork of the painting features smooth, rounded, sparse, elegant, and vigorous. In terms of composition, the "lofty-distant" method was deployed, to render the snow-covered mountains, giving the audience a sense of mountains beyond the mountains and peaks above the peaks. The well-proportioned layout and the atmosphere of tranquility of the painting rendered the trees, rocks and streams at the foot of the mountain and the snow-covered mountains in the distance in layers, creating a remarkable effect of space.

Being deemed to following Lan Ying’s style, the painting, in terms of the artistic characteristics, is likely drawn by his contemporaneous disciple or apprentice, it is roughly in conformity with the habits of Lan Ying in style, composition, rendering, etc. Lan Ying, excelled at calligraphy and painting, was particularly good at rendering of landscape, rock, bamboo, prunus blossom, orchid, human figure, birds, and flowers, etc. With comprehensive techniques, he was particularly good at drawing landscape, hence he was an influential landscape painter in the late Ming and early Qing period.
