Hongshan culture was first discovered in 1935 at Hongshanhou site, at the outskirt of Chifeng city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, so got its name. It is one of the best-known Neolithic cultures in China's Northeast region, and occupies a vital place during the origin of Chinese civilization and in the development process of the early society.

The discovery of Hongshan culture dates back to early 20th century, and up to now, a significant amount of historical sites have been surveyed and excavated, which mainly concentrate in the southeast of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, western part of Liaoning province as well as Chengde areas in the northeast region of Hebei province. According to incomplete statistics, Hongshan culture incorporates over 1000 sites, among which Niuheliang site, Dongshanzui site, Weijiawo site and some other sites are very significant discoveries. All these discoveries provide important physical evidence to study the economic structure, cultural etiquette and social management of Hongshan culture, what is more, Hongshan culture also becomes a major part to further research on China's 5000-year civilization.

What is Hongshan culture? And what are the features of the jade from Hongshan culture? How to understand the development of Hongshan culture? You are warmly welcomed to join professor Lv's lecture and enjoy the vast sea of human culture!
