About:

Period: High Tang period
Provenance: Unearthed at M1 pit, the No.2 Paper Plant, Gongyi county, Henan province,1995.

The present piece is one of the three female figurines discovered from the Tang tomb. Created in the same mold with other one, the figurines feature same poses as each putting one hand on her slightly bulging belly, the other hand lay loosely on her side, and with her right foot forward, presumably she is pregnant and is contemplating something while taking a stroll. No other figurines with identical modeling have been discovered from the Tang tombs in any other places, the unearthed figurines vary with each other in gesture, or in posture, which is somewhat associated with the tomb occupants, or the artisans.
