Sancai is a kind of lead-glazed pottery fired at lowtemperature. It is glazed with such colours as yellow, white, green, brown and blue, etc. The Sancai products of the Tang Dynastyare mostly human figures, horses and camels. The groom leading thehorse wears a tall hat and a robe with lapels. These foreignarticles of clothing and his deep-set eyes and prominent nosesuggests that he is not of Han Chinese ethnic stock.
