Provenance: Unearthed from the tomb of Prince Shunyang at Shangcai county, Zhumadian, 1969

In the form of a little boy, the figure has a small topknot, wears a short-sleeve jacket, baring his chest, with a pair of gold bracelets on his wrist. His left hand holds a rounded flower-drum, his right hand is missing, he also wears a pair of plaid pants, bears his feet, with his left leg raised, and his right leg slightly bent, in a posture of jumping while beating the drum.

The tomb occupant, prince Shunyang, Zhu Youxuan (1385-1415), is the son of Prince Zhou, Zhu Su, and the grandson of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of Ming dynasty. The tomb, the burying place of the couple Prince Shunyang, Zhou Youxuan and his wife Madam Wu, faces the south, measures 28.3 meters, covering an area of 224 square meters, and it is comprised of passageway, tomb gate, front chamber, central chamber, back chamber, left and right side wing rooms, it yielded more than 200 diverse burial goods which were made of varied materials such as gold, silver, and bronze, etc.
