Introduction of Er Yuehe’s Works

Er Yuehe’s Works is an anthology of stories including his most popular and well-known works in China, King Kangxi, KingYongzheng, and King Qianlong.

In King Kangxi, eight-year old Kangxi ascends to the throne after usurping power from Regent Aobai. During his reign, King Kangxi personally guides the government into a new era of prosperity, and consolidates his power by weakening the power of three generals who fought against him. In his old age, Kangxi faces a struggle with his sons as to who will be the successor to his throne.

In KingYongzheng, the story continues as Yongzheng wins the final victory in the battle with his brothers for the throne and becomes the new King. He depends on indispensable assistance from high-ranking court officials, promotes them into important positions and crushes several coups and plots to steal his throne.

In King Qianlong, King Qianlong finances several military campaigns that expands the Chinese empire in all directions and reclaims land that had been lost by previous dynasties. The King’s attention is captured by one of his bodyguards, who rapidly becomes the most powerful official and the closest confidant of King during the latter part of his life.
