Last week, “The Origin of the Chinese Civilization---The Artifacts and Treasures of Henan Province” exhibition, jointly sponsored by Henan Provincial Cultural heritage Administration Bureau, the Tokyo National Museum of Japan, Yomiuri Shimbun news agency, and a Japanese cooperation, opened to public. This exhibition is for strengthening the Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The carefully selected exhibitions come from several artifact institutes and museums in Henan province, including Henan Museum, Henan provincial Cultural Relics Institute, Luoyang Cultural Heritage Administration Bureau, Zhengzhou Municipal Museum, and other museums in Henan province, with a total of 181 pieces (sets), this is the largest exhibition held by Henan province abroad. The exhibits covers different categories, such as porcelain, bronze ritual vessels, jades, gold and silver items, glazed wares, painted bricks, other types of Buddhist relics, and etc, all of them represent the essence of the Henan cultural heritage.

The exhibition consists of three parts: birth of the dynasties, the technological development, and the birth of aesthetics, which indicates that Henan is the cradle of the Chinese nation, and the source of the Chinese civilization, and made important contributions to the formation and the diversification of the Chinese civilization.

As the major exhibitors, Henan Museum choose its Bronze rectangular Ding with animal mask motif, one of her nine representative treasures, and other important artifacts to the exhibition.
