East-West fusion

As a representative of Chinese new ink, Wang Hao's show Effusive Colors and Floating Fragrance at Today Art Museum tries to break the boundary between the East and West. The artist combines abstract paintings from the West and yixiang (philosophy) from the East to create a new kind of painting. Wang, 46, learned oil panting from his father and turned to colored ink paintings several years ago.

The show is part of New China Artists, a project initiated by China National Academy of Painting, to document China's great ink artists born after 1949.
