After three months trial opening, Henan Museum opened to the public roundly. Nearly 70 museums coming from inside and outside Henan province gathered in Zhengzhou for the ceremony on Dec. 26, 2020.

Jiang Ling, member of the Standing Committee of Henan Provincial Party Committee, Guan Qiang, member of the CPC Leading Group and deputy director of National Cultural Heritage Administration, Liu Shuguang, director-general of Chinese Museums Association and some other relevant leaders attended the opening ceremony. Moreover, about 25 major leaders from domestic museums or above the provincial level museums and nearly 30 museums from Henan province were also present in the ceremony. Wan Jie, secretary of the party committee of Henan Museum, presided over the opening ceremony.

First, Ma Xiaolin, director of Henan Museum, gave a welcome address. He said that the main hall of Henan Museum after the roundly opening has an entirely new look on the architecture and facilities. We also showed some new developments in exhibitions and public services. Since the main building was built in 1998, it was the third time being comprehensively upgraded. And this time, we made 6 thematic displays on the basic of “A Great Civilization Rises with Capitals Established in the Central Plain”. Totally, more than 5,000 pieces of cultural relics showed this time. The content and style of the exhibition have been significantly improved. Henan Museum also took an advantage of new technology. In order to improve the level of the intelligence and enrich the public's visiting experience and enjoy better the multi-level and diversified cultural needs of the public for visiting and leisure, we have set up several zones for selling cultural and creative products’ in the main exhibition hall. 

Liu Shuguang, director-general of Chinese Museums Association, addressed at the opening ceremony. He said that with the exquisite art design of the exhibition, it told the story of the extensive and profound Chinese civilization and the Yellow River civilization to the public. It also showed the latest achievements of the Chinese museums on carrying forward the fine traditional Chinese culture, cultivating and strengthening cultural confidence, and spreading historical, cultural and scientific knowledge.
Song Liping also made a speech. She said Henan was a very important birthplace of Chinese civilization. During the long history course of the Chinese nation, it has formed a profound and extensive central Plains culture. The exhibition of Henan Museum, which has been improved in all aspects, was closely related to the theme “A Great Civilization Rises with Capitals Established in the Central Plain”. 

The museums and cultural departments should do much better on the protection and utilization of cultural heritage and try to make new and greater contributions to the development of central China.

At the opening ceremony, the Installing Company of China Construction Seventh Engineering Bureau donated nearly 30 sets of COVID-19 medical items to Henan Museum. It was said that all these medical items would be collected in Henan Museum permanently.

After the opening ceremony, all the distinguished guests visited the new exhibition of Henan Museum. At last, they held a symposium on the theme of the "Cultural Inheriting and Museum Displaying ."
