The Yellow River Basin Museum Alliance Launches! To Protect, Inherit and Carry forward the Culture of Yellow River

The Yellow River Basin Museum Alliance officially launched on December 23 in Zhengzhou, which marks that the 45 museums of 9 provinces along the Yellow River will work together to protect, inherit and carry forward the Yellow River culture, and the connotation, spirit and value of Yellow River culture is to be interpreted in an all-round and multi-perspective way for better telling the story to the outside world in the new era.

At the Conference of the Yellow River Basin Museum Alliance on Protection, Inheritance and Promotion of the Yellow River Culture held in Zhengzhou, the museum curators from 9 provinces along the Yellow River discussed the issues related to the Yellow River Basin Museum Alliance, nominated the first batch of candidate members of the alliance and approved the Constitution of the alliance. In addition, Henan Museum was unanimously elected as the first convenor of the alliance on a two-year term. Zhang Deshui, deputy director of Henan Museum, was also designated as the first secretary general of the alliance.


At the event, Guan Qiang, Party member and deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, together with other relevant guests, unveiled the nameplate of the Yellow River Basin Museum Alliance.

Proposed by Henan Museum, the founding of Yellow River Basin Museum Alliance, under the guidance of the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the 9 provinces’ cultural relics’ bureaus, was jointly initiated with Qinghai Museum, Sichuan Museum, Gansu Museum, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum, Inner Mongolia Museum, Shaanxi Museum, Shanxi Museum and Shandong Museum.

Looking forward to the future, the value embedded in the Yellow River culture in the new era is to be further explored to promote creative transformation and innovative development of the Yellow River culture. Besides, the research, publicity, protection, exhibition and utilization of the Yellow River culture will be carried out to drive the museums along the Yellow River in the protection, inheritance and promotion of the Yellow River culture for the development of modern society in a high-quality and the rejuvenation of Chinese dream in a joint effort.
