This piece of music was composed to be played when the Shang descendants offered sacrifices or paid respect to their ancestor Wu Ding. It is now played mainly by the reproductions of musical instruments excavated from Shang tombs, such as the bronze Nao, the clay Xun, the stone chime and the drum to bring out its solemn ceremonial style.
