With a black glossy surface, the mirror has a circular knob surrounded by four persimmon petals within a square area, the outer field is decorated with motifs of “V”, “TL”, birds, short oblique lines, and a band of inscribed characters.

The bronze mirrors of Han dynasty feature a variety of categories and elaborate craftsmanship, and a special governmental agency was established to govern the making of the bronze mirrors, thereby Han dynasty is another peak since the Spring and Autumn, Warring States periods in the development of the bronze mirror in China. Boju mirror, as a new type emerged during the Western Han dynasty, prevailed in the late Western Han, Wang Mang Interregnum, and the mid-Eastern Han periods, with orderly placed “V, T, L” in the patterns as the main characteristics, which should be correlative with the then prevailed ideologies of divination and Yin-yang & Five-element.
