On Dec.26, 2024, the exhibition “Ancient Kingdoms Reflected by the Nephrite Objects--The exhibition of Hongshan-Liangzhu Culture”, which is jointly hosted by Henan Museum, Liaoning Museum, Liaoning Provincial Archaeological Institute, Liangzhu Museum, Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, opened at Henan Museum.

Hongshan culture and Liangzhu culture are two shining pearls which are respectively inlaid in the West Liaohe River basin and the Yangtze River basin. They are the golden name cards of ancient kingdoms from the different stages being archaeologically found. Hongshan and Liangzhu, one in the north and the other in the south (of China), with jade as the soul, resonate with each other far away, and they are not only the geographical coordinates, but also the holy lands of Chinese civilization.

The exhibition displays 348 pieces (sets) of objects (including models and replicas) from different museums such as Liaoning Provincial Museum and Liangzhu Museums, etc., including terra-cotta standing figurine, black pottery double-handled pot, stone immortal statues, etc., aims to reflect their distinct but homologous sacrificial rituals and the common jade-honoring cultural traditions, demonstrating the multiple-locations origin of the Chinese civilization, embodying the latest achievements of the Project for Tracing the Origins of Chinese Civilization, and ramping up the research, interpretation, demonstration and dissemination of the unearthed cultural relics and sites.
