蛋壳黑陶杯_副本.jpg

The goblet, a quintessential artifact of China's Neolithic Longshan Culture, boasts an exquisite design characterized by its eggshell-thin walls, flaring rim, elongated trumpet-shaped neck, angular belly, flat base, and short ring foot. Its surface is entirely glossy black, adorned with three incised bow-string patterns encircling the belly.

Renowned for its remarkable qualities, the goblet is celebrated as being "as black as lacquer, as glossy as a mirror, as thin as paper, and as rigid as stoneware." Only two such examples have been unearthed at the Huanglianshu site. This ingeniously crafted and distinctive vessel provides crucial physical evidence for studying the primitive cultural traits of the region. Moreover, it serves as a valuable reference for understanding the mutual influences and cultural convergence between the Yangtze-Han Rivers valley and the Yellow River valley during the Neolithic period.
