On July 1, on the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the Hong Kong Return Day, the summer "Chinese Excellent Historical and Cultural Inheritance Practice Program," was jointly launched by Henan Museum and Hong Kong's Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School at Henan Museum.

The event will run from July 1 to July 7, during which 16 student representatives from the Hong Kong secondary school, led by their principal, will participate in a variety of activities at Henan Museum, including research studies as "Guardians of National Treasures," social education programs, cultural relic preservation experiences, literatures arrangements, and cultural products design. Through these practices, they will deeply experience the prominent characteristics of Chinese civilization—continuity, innovation, unity, inclusiveness, and peace—and appreciate the profound depth of China's outstanding traditional culture. This initiative marks another innovative measure in deepening cooperation between the museum and school since the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two sides in 2024. It provides a practical platform for Hong Kong youth to learn about their homeland's culture, promotes cultural identity through immersive experiences, and enhances educational and cultural exchanges between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

The event establishes a systematic practice framework. Students will engage in research activities to explore the past and present of national treasures. And they will visit the Cultural Relics Preservation Research Center to observe and comprehend the craftsmanship spirit of "restoring the old as the old". They will also participate in cataloging and organizing the museum’s collection of books, touching upon the vital carriers of civilization. Furthermore, they will develop cultural products based on the museum’s collections, integrating their cultural feelings into the designs to revitalize ancient artifacts with contemporary vitality. This "research + volunteer service" model aims to enrich Hong Kong youth’s historical, cultural, and patriotic education, transforming them from cultural recipients into cultural disseminators, thereby injecting enduring momentum into the inheritance of China’s outstanding historical culture.

At the historic intersection of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development and the Belt and Road Initiative, this event carries profound exemplary significance. Henan Museum uses cultural relics as a bridge to create cross-regional cultural dialogue channels. This innovative attempt of "cultural relic revitalization + youth practice" pioneers a new approach to cultural identity education, offering replicable experience for mainland-Hong Kong-Macao cultural exchanges and actively addressing the contemporary question of "how to strengthen the patriotic consciousness of Hong Kong and Macao youth."
