Amber, a witness to geological history, is fossilized resin buried underground millions of years ago. Through polymerization and hardening, crustal movements, erosion, transport, and sedimentation over time, it transforms into a fossilized “treasure through time.”

Thanks to its geographical advantage as “the heart of Europe,” Poland has refined amber into a flowing cultural legacy, gifted by the gentle waves of the Baltic Sea. These crystallized treasures, with their restrained and mild luster, encapsulate profound history and narrate ancient tales. In Gdansk, known as the “Capital of Amber,” craftsmen have woven ethnic aesthetics and artistic traditions into amber, elevating it beyond mere splendor.

As a world-class celebration of Polish amber culture, this exhibition brings together nearly 1000 pieces(sets) of precious objects, offering a comprehensive view of historical tracks and multiple values of Baltic amber. The exhibition is divided into three major sections: "Crystallized Treasures of Time:The Origins and History of Amber from the Baltic Sea Region," "The Bridge through Time: The Cultural Tapestry of Baltic Amber," and "The Light of the Treasure: The Artistry of Baltic Amber." The exhibition features raw amber ore, archaeological amber finds, insect-included amber, plant-included amber, water-drop amber, as well as amber jewelry collections and sculptural artworks designed and crafted by renowned Polish artists and top designers. Integrating knowledge from geology, gemology, botany, zoology, and other fields, the exhibition systematically and comprehensively presents the long developmental journey of Baltic amber, its cultural and artistic characteristics, and the exchange and fusion of Chinese and Western cultures.

The exhibition not only delivers a visual symphony of light and shadow but also builds a cultural bridge between China and Poland, with amber as a “time-space messenger.” From ancient interactions along the Silk Road to the cultural resonance fostered by the “Belt and Road Initiative,” audiences can witness how Poland’s amber culture has merged into the broader tapestry of human civilization, continuing to inspire dialogue across millennia.
