"International Symposium on Music and Cultural relics between China and South Korea" holds in Zhengzhou 

"International Symposium on Music and Cultural relics between China and South Korea" held in Zhengzhou on on May 26, 2019.

The International Symposium both of Chinese and South Korean Music and Cultural Relics first began in 2013.

This year more than 30 experts and scholars from both sides attended the activities. There were Wan Jie, secretary of the Party Committee of Henan Museum, Ms. Kim Hsien, the Director of the Reserch Division National Gugak Center of Korea, Ma Xiaolin, president of Henan Museum, and Zhang Deshui, vice president of Henan Museum too. As well as some other experts and scholars in the fields of music archaeology and traditional music and cultural exchanges both of China and South Korea attended the symposium too. 

Ma Xiaolin, president of Henan Museum presided over the opening ceremony of the seminar.Wan Jie, party secretary of Henan Museum, first welcomed the leaders, experts and guests on behalf of Henan Museum. In his speech, he said Henan is located in the Central Plains and is the center hinterland of the development of Chinese civilization. Henan has a long history of music and rich in music cultural relics. Henan Museum is the first batch of national museums built by the Central Land. Huaxia Ancient Orchestra formed in 2000. It was a professional orchestra specializing in the study of music cultural relics, the inheritance and exhibition of ancient music and cultural heritage. It was a characteristic brand of Henan Museum. Huaxia Ancient Orchestra has performed in the National Grand Theater, Peking University, the National Museum and other places. It also was invited to the United States, Thailand, Turkey, South Korea, Cambodia and some other countries too.  It was deeply loved by the audience at home and abroad, it has become a national cultural business card representing ancient Chinese music culture.

Ms. Kim Hsien, the Director of the Reserch Division National Gugak Center of Korea made a speech at the opening ceremony too.She said that since we began to have the first cooperative exhibition in 2013, the National Gugak Center of Korea and Henan Museum of China have carried out fruitful cooperation in the form of academic exchange, cooperation exhibition, joint publishing for about nine years. It was expected that the two sides would carry out further cooperation and exchanges in academic research, joint publishing, exhibition exchanges and so on.

Ma Xiaolin, president of Henan Museum also expounded in detail on the research contents of the integration and innovation of the musical cultural relics resources of Henan Museum, the planning of the special exhibition of musical cultural relics, the combination of exhibitions and performances, the restoration of music and dance, the experience of the audience, and so on.

At the symposium, the two sides introduced their histories and the works in the traditional music culture display, research, communication and so on.

Some other experts attended the seminars. Such as professor Wang Zichu, famous music archaeologist and dean of the Academy of Music Archaeology, Zhengzhou University, Zhang Xiang, researcher of Hubei Museum, Secretary General of the Special Committee on Musical Instruments of the China Museum Association.

After the opening ceremony, more than 10 scholars from China and South Korea published their academic research results.
Both sides had a deep research and discussion on the music cultural relics, traditional music exchanges between China and South Korea, restoration of musical instruments, exhibitions, new archaeological discoveries. The scholars from the two countries shared the research results over the years and opened up deeper and broader areas of cooperation for the future culture and exchanges.
