May 18 this year marks the 45th International Museum Day. And the theme of the International Museum Day 2021 is “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”. We will focus on the rethinking the museum of the future to meet the challenges of the present. 

The year 2020 has been like no other. The COVID-19 crisis has swept the whole world abruptly, affecting every aspect of our lives and works. 

 
The post-epidemic era has arrived, and the museum will use its great cultural driving force and creativity to work with the whole society to create a sustainable future. 

Under the theme of “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”, Henan Museum launched a series of special events before and after May 18, and launched a series of online and offline activities in and out of the museum for different groups of people, so as to let more people know about the Museum Day and feel the power of the culture.

First: the newly launched exhibition
1、 Splendid Central Plains -- Henan Red Culture Exhibition
In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and in line with the theme of International Museum Day, Henan Museum has hold a new exhibition, "Splendid Central Plains -- Henan Red Culture Exhibition."
Exhibition time: permanent exhibition 

2、 The Oracle Bone Inscriptions Exhibition
The Oracle Bone Inscriptions Exhibition jointly organized by Tianjin Museum and Henan Museum in 2021. 

The oracle bone script, which has been passed down for thousands of years, was one of the sources of our cultural confidence. It was an important symbol to witness the endless growth of the Chinese nation and confirms the footsteps of the progress of the Chinese nation. The great discovery of oracle bone inscriptions in Yin ruins was the epoch-making significance in the history of Chinese civilization and the development of human civilization.

Second: Rich and colorful social education activities
1、 Specialist nonprofit lectures
Exhibition time: April 30 -- July 29, 2021
Experts in the fields of archaeology, history, art, sinology and museum researchs will be invited to share the lectures. The expert lectures will focus on Chinese traditional culture, the origin of civilization, the protection and utilization of cultural relics, and the spirit of the Central Plains etc.
Time: May 15-- May 22, 2021 

2、Special lectures on the Yellow River culture theme
The series of the education programs on "The Yellow River Culture" will narrate the stories from different angles of the Yellow River basin of history and culture, local conditions and customs, the economic and social, times change and so on.
Time: May 18-- May 19, 2021 

3、Central Plains history and culture publicity activities
The experts, interpreters and volunteers will be organized to carry out the activities: walking into the government offices, communities, schools, enterprises and military barracks. They will tell the stories all around the Yellow River culture, museum knowledge and traditional culture classics.

Third: The Special Theme Music Concert "Flourishing Music Age" on 5•18 International Museum Day
In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Huaxia Ancient Orchestra, with the theme of "Restoration and Remaking", launched a special concert "Flourishing Music Age".

Fourth: The cultural and creative blind boxes and new products of Henan Museum
1. Live Activity: Henan Museum Reveals Secret and Archeological Blind Box Sending Online on May 18.
Baidu and Henan Museum jointly launched the "Charity Sale the Archaeology Blind Box". All the earnings from the live streaming sales will be donated to the welfare organizations. 

2、logging the cultural and creative shop online and buying Blind box of Ladies Band with the wristband
On the day of 5•18 Museum Day, the handmade blind box of Ladies Band will also be available online at the cultural creative store. 

 
3、The 7th Henan Provincial Museum Cultural and Creative Competition Award Achievements Exhibition
The 63 winning works of the 7th Henan Provincial Museum Cultural and Creative Competition to be held in 2020 will be exhibited at Xinzheng Airport on May 18. 

 
We also held some activities about the volunteer recruitment, meeting of the volunteer explanation and a series of online activities. 

The special exhibition "treasures of the central plains -- unearthed cultural relics from xia, shang and zhou dynasty of Henan province" opened in Tianjin Museum on May 18, 2021.
