Henan Museum and Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology hold a symposium.

Henan Museum and Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology held a symposium on the conservation and restoration of the ancient books on Nov. 5, 2020.

The project task would be carried out in two-run process this time. It involves more than 70 rare ancient books to be restored and more than 1300 ancient books to be sterilized.

Cao Jin, deputy director of the Cultural Relic Conservation and Restoration Center of Henan Museum, made a detailed report on the project, including the situation of the restoration of some cultural relics and the restoration plan. And she displayed the phase achievements and submitted these to the leaders and experts to inspect on-site.

At the symposium, Han Kaiying, an assistant researcher in charge of the conservation and restoration project of Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, made an general introduction about the project to the leaders of the three parties.

After seeing the phased restoration results, Shen Feng, secretary of the Party Branch of Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, said that the restoration project of the ancient books was a very difficult job. But the museum staff showed us a high quality restoration result. Mr. Shen fully affirmed and recognized the staff working level and attitude of the restoration. And he also said that Henan Museum really was the "Key Research and Training Base of Henan Restoration of Paper Cultural Relics" named by the Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage.

Ding Fuli, on behalf of Henan Museum, thanked for the leaders and experts of Henan Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage and Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology of their recognition and trust in the restoration level of the cultural relics of the project. He also said that Henan Museum would organize the restoration team to make more careful and meticulous arrangement, and improve the staff’s ability and level, and fulfill the restoration task with a higher level.
