Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra Makes Debut at National Centre for Performing Arts

At the invitation of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra makes its debut at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) on Monday (Dec. 20, 2010), followed by special concert and ancient musical instruments exhibition which were organized by the Henan Museum and NCPA. As soon as arrived  at NCPA, Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra attracted several state media, including CCTVXinhua News Agency and etc.

  

On the news conference, Ms. Li Hong, Vice Director of Henan Museum and head of the orchestra, and members of the orchestra, gave an interview to the journalists, delivered a lecture and performance to demonstrate the ancient musical instruments, and the ancient musical works adapted from the unearthed musical artifacts which were quite fascinating to the audience.

  

Simultaneously, nearly 180 musical artifacts unearthed in Henan province were open to the public. Of the exhibits, there are Jiahu bone flute with a history of almost 8,000 years, the tremendous Wang Sun Gao bronze chime bells, stone chime bells unearthed in Xichuan county, Henan province, all of these masterpieces are seldom exhibited at home or abroad. And such kind of special ancient musical instrument exhibition with such large scale is the first in China, especially accompanied by professional performance.

  

On Jan.26, 2011, Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra will present a concert “Chord songs of 8,000 Years—Huaxia Ancient Music Concert”, for congratulating the three year’s anniversary of the National Centre for Performing Arts. And some well known ancient music composers and performing groups will be invited, and some representative instruments, such as the Jiahu bone flute of 8,000 years, Wang Sun Gao chime bells, stone chime bells and other rare instruments will be played during the concert. It is really an opportunity to attend such a concert.

  

The exhibition will go through Feb. 28, 2011.
