The grand ceremony of the touring exhibition from Tibet “Treasure From the Roof of the World” was held on the evening of Wednesday in the exhibition hall of Henan Museum. Some important officials, relevant experts and some others attended the ceremony.

  

Jointly hosted by Tibetan Heritage Administration, the National Cultural Relics Exchange Center, Henan governmental organ and Henan Museum, the event has been prepared for a couple of months. The exhibition consists of 127 pieces(group) cultural heritages from Tibetan Museum, Potala palace, and other 12 cultural bodies and Buddhist Temples, ranging from statues, figurine, Tangka, or The Tibetan art of scroll painting, musical instruments, clothes, and other cultural and religious treasures, which represent the unique Tibetan characteristics. As the crystallization of the wisdom of the Tibetan people, and the carrier of the culture and history of Tibet region, the exhibits embodied the hard work of the local people and the brilliant civilization of Tibet, as well as the historical process. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity for the visitors to have a glimpse of the Tibetan culture, history, religion, custom and etc.   

  

The exhibition has been touring Japan museums, Taiwan museums, and Hubei provincial museum, Henan museums is its last stop.

  

After the cutting ribbon ceremony, Huaxia Ancient Music Orchestra from Henan Museum and Tibetan Folk Song and Dance Ensemble gave a special performance.

  

In order to help the audience appreciate the exhibits and understand Tibetan culture and religion, vice director of Tibetan Museum, Mr. Suonan Hangdan, delivered a speech on the following day on the art of the Buddhist figurine, followed the opening ceremony, many Buddhist fans and some other scholars attended the events.

  

The exhibition will go through September 6th. 2011.
